Dorothy and Tony's Gourmet Kettle Corn (previously Dorothy and Toto's Gourmet Kettle Corn) is based on a secret recipe that has been passed down between three generations of family. The original business began when Dorothy and Tony Meyers sold the "secret recipe" Kettle Corn at Farmer's Markets in Michigan and Arizona. Their loyal following became almost cult-like as people from every walk of life waited in long lines for this healthy treat.
The family observed the unusual demand for their product and began exploring ideas for opening a store in Michigan. They hoped to find a retail building in a friendly neighborhood where cars passing by could watch them popping corn in the store window.
Their dream is now a reality as Dorothy and Tony’s Gourmet Kettle Corn opened its first store and roastery on Plainfield Avenue in Grand Rapids, Michigan during the first week of January, 2010. It is a charming little store designed to be a neighborhood gathering place.
It is owned and operated by Kyle Behm, the grandson of Dorothy and Tony Meyers. It is truly a family operation as Kyle works the store every day, mom and dad are involved on a regular basis, and Grandpa Tony works with Kyle to get the kettle corn "just right".
